A Texas man has been charged in the deaths of his wife and stepson after he called Austin Police to say he’d shot them and “they are both dead.”

Officers rushed to the scene and found Rudy Limon-Lirra, 14, dead, while medical personnel took his mother, 39-year-old Christina Limon, to a hospital, where she died from her injuries, KXAN reported.

David Ontiveros, 42, faces two counts of capital murder in the deaths, according to court documents.

Ontiveros reportedly told dispatchers that the teen “swung a knife” at him, but police said no knives were found near either victim.

The court documents say that a security system captured audio and video from the scene. Police wrote in the documents that Limon and her son arrived home shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Friday, and Limon asked Ontiveros why he was sitting in the dark. The audio recording caught the sounds of multiple gunshots, and video later showed Ontiveros leaving the house and making the 911 call. He told the dispatcher he would not go back inside and that he “blacked out.”

Investigators found a firearm in the home’s front bedroom and a “spent shell casing” outside the room’s door.

Ontiveros is being held on a combined $1 million bond.
