Texas Mom Charged With Helping Teen Son Plan School Shooting in Exchange for Babysitting Younger Siblings

A Texas mother has been arrested again after pictures reportedly surfaced of her pointing a gun at an infant’s head.

On Friday, authorities detained Ashley Pardo, 33, who is accused of purchasing magazines, ammunition, and tactical gear for her 13-year-old child attending San Antonio ISD.

She’s now accused of having pictures showing her pointing a gun at an 11-month-old’s head, according to KSAT.

A warrant issued on Thursday revealed that Pardo sent pictures to the child’s father in March 2023, indicating that their baby was being difficult.

Pardo was captured in an image with her finger hovering over a gun’s trigger guard while the infant appeared to reach for the barrel. She reportedly texted the father, “Tell her to continue misbehaving.”

CrimeOnline previously reported three months ago on Pardo’s initial arrest, where she faced charges of assisting in terrorist activities. Allegedly, she provided her son with illegal items as a reward for babysitting his younger siblings, as MSN detailed.

Last October, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus noted that Child Protective Services alerted the police about the teen due to “behavioral signs suggesting potential violence,” according to KSAT.

By January, the chief highlighted that the teen was found “creating violent drawings” at school, which consisted of a campus map marked as “suicide route” along with time stamps.

“From this point on, police continuously met with the juvenile and his family, offering them to connect the family with resources and services,” McManus said.

In April, the boy was suspended from school after he was discovered researching a New Zealand mass shooting on a school computer.

According to his arrest affidavit, he “described a fascination with past mass shooters.” On the day he was suspended, he attempted suicide.

On May 8, his suspension ended, and he returned to the campus of Jeremiah Rhodes Middle School, which increased security while police remained in contact with the family.

Three days later, the boy was seen hitting a live bullet with a hammer at a relative’s home and told the relative his mother had bought him the ammunition and tactical gear.

On May 12, a family member contacted police upon finding loaded magazines and a homemade bomb.

That same day, the teen arrived at school “wearing a mask, camouflage jacket, and tactical pants but left shortly after.”

Later that day, a witness implicated the teen’s mother in the son’s activities. According to an affidavit for her arrest, Pardo bought tactical gear, ammunition, and magazines “with knowledge” that they would be “used to plan and carry out” a crime.

McManus told reporters that Pardo “appeared to be dismissive and unconcerned with her son’s behavior” as police investigated.

Pardo’s new arrest came while she was out on bond on partial house arrest, which was granted to allow her to search for employment, according to KSAT.

On Friday, Pardo was given a new $45,000 bond by the magistrate judge.

Should she bond out, she will be required to continue to wear an ankle monitor and is to have no contact with her children, alcohol, or firearms.
