Authorities have apprehended a man in connection with the tragic death of a 14-year-old girl from Illinois, who disappeared on Thursday, only to be found deceased a few hours later.
The young girl, identified as Kylie Toberman, had been reported missing from her home in Vandalia, Illinois. Her lifeless body was discovered in a recreational vehicle (RV) parked behind her residence. According to reports from KSDK, the suspect, 43-year-old Arnold Rivera Jr., who is a relative residing in the RV, allegedly sexually assaulted and then strangled Kylie using jumper cables, subsequently hiding her remains in a tote.
At the time of this devastating incident, Kylie lived with her adoptive mother and two sisters. The girl’s biological mother expressed her heartbreak to KSDK, stating, “She didn’t deserve this.”
Rivera’s criminal past includes a charge from the year 2000 in Macon County, involving burglary and the sexual abuse of a child aged between 9 and 16, a case that was dismissed the following year, as reported by KTVI.
Currently, Rivera faces serious charges including first-degree murder, aggravated criminal sexual assault, and concealing a homicidal death. He is being held without bond, and his arraignment is scheduled to take place on Monday.
