A man from Georgia is now facing murder charges after a deadly incident occurred in October at a Walmart near Savannah.
According to the Chatham County Police Department, 48-year-old Delano Middleton was taken into custody on Thursday. This arrest follows an altercation on October 23 at a Walmart located on Whitemarsh Island, which lies approximately eight miles east of Savannah.
The police have reported that the conflict began when 18-year-old J.T. Schroeder kicked Middleton’s shopping cart as he passed by. This seemingly minor clash quickly intensified, leading to Middleton allegedly stabbing Schroeder several times.
Schroeder was rushed to a nearby hospital by paramedics, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries the following day, as reported by WTOC 11.
Authorities conducted interviews with numerous witnesses at the scene to piece together the details of the incident.
Reports from WJCL indicate that Middleton has a prior criminal record, with past arrests related to aggravated assault, battery, and weapons offenses.
Meanwhile, police said they will not be releasing additional information regarding the case at this time.
Middleton remains behind bars at the Chatham County Detention Center.
