A seemingly ordinary evening took a tragic turn in Minnesota when a minor traffic incident escalated into violence. A woman and her 5-year-old child, leaving a friend’s party, became victims of a terrifying encounter when another driver pursued them and shot the woman in the neck, according to authorities.
Cordaryle Frank-Allen Frost, aged 38, now finds himself behind bars at the Anoka County Jail. He faces serious charges including first-degree assault causing great bodily harm and drive-by shooting with dangerous weapons, as confirmed by jail records examined by Law&Crime.
The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office has also detained another suspect in connection with this violent incident. Cynthia Victoria Frost, 37, was arrested alongside her husband following the events surrounding the shooting.
The evening began with a mother attending a prom send-off party in Columbia Heights, a city just north of Minneapolis in Anoka County. As the woman left the gathering with her young daughter, their SUV reportedly brushed against a parked vehicle, Twin Cities area ABC affiliate KSTP reported.
In the moments following the minor collision, Cordaryle Frost and his wife, Cynthia, entered their vehicle and pursued the woman as she drove away. Just one block from the party site, the Frosts allegedly executed a maneuver resembling a PIT technique, compelling the woman to stop her vehicle.
Once the vehicles came to a halt, the Frosts allegedly exited their car, yelling threats and aggressively confronting the woman, telling her they intended to “beat her.” This alarming situation quickly spiraled into a life-threatening attack, leaving the community in shock and highlighting the unpredictable nature of road rage incidents.
The mother drove away, but they reportedly caught back up to her. Suddenly, she heard a gunshot and lost control of her body.
She had been shot in the neck, and she lost control of her SUV, causing it to cross over the road and stop in a grassy area in the area of 53rd Avenue Northeast and University Avenue Northeast in Fridley, authorities said. The daughter got out of the vehicle and started running around asking for help, according to KSTP.
The mother had reportedly suffered a spinal cord injury — though the extent of her injuries has not been announced. She is said to have gone into surgery where doctors removed bullet fragments from her neck.
The Frosts were arrested on Monday, and Cordaryle Frost allegedly denied having anything to do with a shooting. Jail records show that his wife faced the same charges as her husband but was released from jail on Wednesday.
Cordaryle Frost is still in jail under $2 million bail.
