The victim, identified as 41-year-old Rosa Mar Espinosa Rodas, was crossing Market Street at 36th Street in Philadelphia when she was hit by a 2012 Honda Accord driven by 30-year-old Shamir Miller. After the collision, Miller allegedly fled the scene, only to be involved in another crash two blocks away at 34th Street, where he hit a 2013 Buick LaCrosse, as reported by local CBS affiliate KYW.

Following the second collision, authorities claim Miller attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by police officers after a chase near 32nd and Market Streets, KYW reported.

Emergency responders arrived swiftly at the scene where Espinosa Rodas was struck but, unfortunately, could not revive her. She was declared dead on the scene. Meanwhile, the Buick driver sustained neck and back injuries and was hospitalized in stable condition over the weekend.

Reports indicate that Espinosa Rodas was employed near the location of the incident and was on her lunch break when she was hit. Media outlets from Nicaragua, including Articulo 66 and Pixel Channel Nicaragua, reported that she was a Nicaraguan native residing and working in Philadelphia. These outlets, along with local ABC affiliate WPVI, have alleged that Miller was speeding and driving recklessly at the time of the incident. The police have yet to release details regarding the cause of the crashes.
