Christopher Crimmins (Dakota County Jail).

A Minnesota man is facing a manslaughter charge after police say a workplace prank involving shadows and heavy equipment turned deadly, leaving his co-worker with a fatal head injury.

Christopher Crimmins, 34, is charged with second-degree manslaughter in the death of Tyler Anthony Lynch, 26, according to a criminal complaint reviewed by Law&Crime.

Apple Valley police officers responded to the scene, where they found Lynch lying on the ground with “a significant amount of blood around him and significant trauma to his head,” the complaint says. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators also noted “blood on the grapple that was directly above the Victim,” according to the complaint. Crimmins was taken into custody and booked into the Dakota County Jail.

A judge set Crimmins’ bail at $40,000 “without conditions.” His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 10.

The case was first reported by Law & Crime.
