Florida law enforcement continues their investigation into the death of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, who passed away last month. They announced on Thursday that they are examining the 71-year-old’s medical history. This follows a statement from his daughter, Brooke Hogan, on Instagram, suggesting that the 911 call and bodycam footage from that day might alter public perception of his passing.
Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, died on July 24.
Brooke Hogan, using her Instagram account “mizzhogan,” shared that she has received legitimate calls from various professionals, including police and nurses present on the day of her father’s death. They advised her to review the 911 recordings and bodycam footage, claiming these could potentially provide new insights and challenge the prevailing account of events.
She further stated, “These professionals are so committed to revealing the truth that they continue to reach out to me, urging me to seek out detailed answers, even at the risk of their careers.”
According to unnamed sources cited by TMZ, an occupational therapist present at Hogan’s home on his final day suggested to responding officers that his death might be linked to medical negligence. Allegedly, during a recent surgery, the surgeon inadvertently damaged his phrenic nerve, crucial for initiating breathing by stimulating the diaphragm.
That information was provided on the 911 call, the sources said, and would likely be on body camera footage, if the cameras were turned on.
Hogan’s spouse, Sky Daily, confirmed to TMZ that there was indeed an issue with the phrenic nerve in a recent surgery but did not specify the timing. She also mentioned that an autopsy was completed—an expense Brooke Hogan had offered to cover—and noted that Hogan’s cremation hasn’t occurred yet.
In a communication to The Associated Press, Clearwater Police affirmed that due to the complex nature of the case, they are interviewing numerous witnesses and obtaining medical records from various sources, with investigations ongoing by their detectives.
“All of this takes time,” the statement said. “Until the investigation is completed, no records related to the case, including body camera footage, can be released.”
Police said they have been working with the family, including daughter Brooke and son Nick, and will be meeting with them “to share the results of the investigation … prior to closing the case and releasing it to the public and media.”
Police previously said there was no indication of any foul play in Hogan’s death, and the medical examiner’s report concluded that the cause of death was natural.
