Authorities in Arizona have raised the alarm over the disappearance of an 8-year-old girl who went missing last Thursday. The community and law enforcement are on high alert as the search intensifies for young Maleeka Boone.
According to reports from the Navajo Times, Maleeka was last observed in the area of Coalmine, specifically near the Coalmine Navajo Housing. Her disappearance prompted the issuance of a Turquoise Alert on Friday, a measure swiftly taken to expedite her safe return.
The Turquoise Alert was deemed appropriate in this situation due to Maleeka’s Native American heritage and the location of her disappearance within the boundaries of the Navajo Nation.
Local news outlet KPHO highlighted the unusual nature of Maleeka’s prolonged absence, reporting that it is out of character for her to be away for such an extended period.
Maleeka Boone is described as being 4 feet, 5 inches tall, with a weight between 50 and 60 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair. At the time she was last seen, Maleeka was wearing a red jacket, blue jeans, and cowboy boots.
The Navajo Police Department is urging anyone who might have information on Maleeka’s whereabouts to contact their Tuba City District at 928-283-3111 or 928-283-3112. The community remains hopeful for her safe return as the search continues.
