A Walmart employee in West Virginia told police that a lunch break with a co-worker turned frightening when he allegedly pointed a gun at her. She also reported that the same man had strangled her during a separate incident.

Byron Shelton, 22, is facing misdemeanor charges of battery and brandishing a deadly weapon after authorities said he threatened a fellow employee at the Walmart in Fayetteville, West Virginia. A criminal complaint obtained by the West Virginia news outlet Lootpress.com states that the woman said she was on her lunch break in her car with Shelton on Aug. 23 when he became emotional while discussing problems with his girlfriend.

According to the complaint, the woman told investigators that Shelton said he wanted to take his own life. While they were both inside the vehicle, he allegedly pulled out a handgun and asked whether she had ever had a gun pointed at her.

The woman reported the alleged incidents to police on Aug. 27.

Shelton was charged and taken into custody on Friday. He later posted a $1,000 bond and was released from Southern Regional Jail in Beaver, West Virginia. As of Monday, his next court appearance had not yet been scheduled.
