GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 35-year-old woman was arrested late Saturday after Gainesville police said she struck her boyfriend and threatened him with a knife during a domestic dispute.
Officers with the Gainesville Police Department were called at about 9:38 p.m. on September 6 to the 3500 block of SW 28th Terrace. According to the victim, Stephanie Yuliana Cabrera had been drinking and appeared intoxicated before the confrontation escalated. He told officers Cabrera became aggressive, began arguing with him, punched him in the head, then grabbed a knife and threatened to stab him. The victim said he feared he would be stabbed.
The victim reported that he was able to take the knife from Cabrera and throw it away from her. After he called 911, he said Cabrera left the residence by climbing out through a back window.
Police later found Cabrera. After being read her Miranda rights, she reportedly denied having a knife or threatening the victim with one. When officers asked why she had left the home, Cabrera said she believed the victim’s parents were coming and did not want them to see her with him.
Cabrera, who is listed as having a Tallahassee address, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery. Details about her criminal history were not available because those records are not posted on holidays. Judge Sheree Lancaster set her bail at $30,000.
