GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A 44-year-old woman was arrested early Monday in Gainesville’s Midtown area after police say she threw a liquid at a man during a confrontation and later kicked an officer following her arrest.

According to a Gainesville Police Department officer’s report, the incident began around 1:30 a.m. on June 16. Police say Carlyann Lampkin accused the man of being racist, then attempted to grab him and threw a clear liquid on him before fleeing the scene.

As officers were still interviewing people about what happened, a witness told them he had seen the altercation and said Lampkin was nearby, at the corner of Northwest 10th Street and West University Avenue, where she was reportedly involved in another dispute with the same man.

Officers located Lampkin at that intersection and took her into custody. Police say she dropped a small plastic container that allegedly held a glass pipe with burnt residue, a marijuana pipe and about 0.1 grams of a white powder that tested positive for fentanyl.

Investigators also say Lampkin became combative during the arrest. As officers attempted to place her in the back of a patrol vehicle, she allegedly kicked one officer in the leg.

Lampkin, who is described as homeless on the arrest report, has been charged with battery on a police officer, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, battery, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting an officer without violence. She declined to speak with Court Services about how long she has been in the area, but she has two misdemeanor convictions in Florida (non-violent) and an unspecified criminal history in Georgia and Ohio between 2000 and 2025. Judge Joy Danne set bail at $17,500.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
