A Pennsylvania woman allegedly set fire to a home in an attempt to target someone she believed was speaking negatively about her, but the blaze instead killed her cousin, authorities say.
Chardae Sapp, 34, faces a murder charge in connection with the death of 25-year-old Raymond Bell, court records show. Sapp allegedly started the fatal house fire in February and later told several relatives what she had done, according to WPVI, the local ABC affiliate.
Police arrested Sapp on Sept. 13. Authorities have not immediately explained why the arrest came months after the deadly fire.
Along with murder, Sapp has been charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and arson.
She remains in custody, according to prison records. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 14.
