A Michigan judge made clear Wednesday that he believed Amanda Hernandez was not merely on the sidelines of a fatal home invasion scheme. “You were all in on this,” he told her in court.

Hernandez, 34, was sentenced after entering no contest pleas to conspiracy to commit first-degree home invasion, conspiracy to commit false personation of a public utility worker, and accessory after the fact to a felony. The case stems from the Oct. 11, 2024, attack that left 72-year-old Hussein “Sam” Murray dead after Hernandez’s husband, 40-year-old Carlos Hernandez, and 41-year-old Joshua Zuazo allegedly posed as gas company workers to gain access to Murray’s home.

Prosecutors argued that Amanda Hernandez helped set the plan in motion, pointing to text messages she sent to her husband as evidence that she participated in the planning of the home invasion.

Online court records show Judge Grant sentenced Hernandez to 57 months to 20 years in prison for conspiracy to commit first-degree home invasion. She also received a sentence of one to five years for accessory after the fact to a felony and one to two years for conspiracy to commit false personation of a public utility worker. She was credited with 197 days already served.

Carlos Hernandez and Zuazo were both found guilty of murdering Murray and his wife and were sentenced to life in prison in December 2025.
