Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Desiré Nicole Griffin, 26, was arrested Saturday after police said she repeatedly threatened to kill her ex-boyfriend following a breakup.

According to a Gainesville Police Department report, the victim told an officer that he and Griffin had argued before she allegedly began slapping him and pulling out his hair. He said he texted Griffin early on July 11 to end the relationship, after which she allegedly sent about 50 messages from four different phone numbers. Police said the messages included threats to get a gun and kill him, set his home on fire, stab him, and slash his tires. One message reportedly stated, “Yall gone have to kill me tonight, we both gone die [tonight].” Griffin also allegedly sent a video showing herself with a knife, describing it as “brand new” and threatening to use it “tonight.”

The responding officer noted in the report that portions of the victim’s hair appeared to have been pulled out.

Police initially were unable to find Griffin, with the officer reporting that she was “currently unsheltered.” She was taken into custody on July 12.

Griffin, whose listed address is GRACE Marketplace, is charged with making a written threat to kill, aggravated stalking with a credible threat, and domestic battery. Court records show she has four prior felony convictions, including one violent felony, and four misdemeanor convictions, including two violent misdemeanors. Judge Donna Keim set her bail at $75,000.
