A South Carolina woman has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for fatally shooting her husband’s companion inside a car after tracking him through his Google account. The weapon used in the shooting was pink.

Michelle Gladys Bingley, 43, was found guilty Thursday of murder and sentenced to 35 years behind bars in connection with the death of Tineseing Lachell Johns, the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office said.

Walterboro police, responding to a report of an unresponsive person at about 11:30 p.m. on April 28, 2025, found Johns on Grace Street with a gunshot wound beneath her arm. Walterboro is located roughly 45 miles west of Charleston. Paramedics transported Johns to a hospital, where she later died.

Bingley surrendered to police several days after the shooting. During an interview with detectives, she said she had discovered that her husband was having an affair and used his Google account to locate him at his mother’s home.

When Bingley arrived, she found her husband inside a car with Johns. According to investigators, Bingley said she “lost her mind” after her husband refused to leave the vehicle. She then fired into the car with her pink firearm, striking Johns.

Bingley fled the scene and discarded the gun. Investigators never recovered it.

“I didn’t mean to do anything,” Bingley told detectives. “I just did it to scare him.”

She later acknowledged, “I killed somebody.”

Prosecutors called 12 witnesses during the three-day trial.

In addition to murder, Bingley was convicted of domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.

“Domestic violence has devastating and far-reaching consequences for families and communities,” said Assistant Solicitor Tameaka A. Legette of the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, who prosecuted the case. “As we recognize October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, this case underscores the importance of early intervention and accountability. Our office remains committed to seeking justice for victims and ensuring that violent acts such as these are thoroughly prosecuted.”
