A woman from Florida reportedly inquired with a police officer about the potential bond for assaulting another woman, then immediately carried out the act, according to officials.
Marina Goenaga Navarrete, aged 63, faces charges of aggravated battery involving an individual aged 65 or older, as per jail documents. The incident occurred on Saturday night.
Authorities were called to an unidentified Miami location shortly before 8 p.m. following reports of “a dispute over stolen property,” according to an arrest report acquired by Law&Crime. The report suggests Navarrete went there “to retrieve stolen shoes.”
Navarrete was speaking with an officer already at the scene when she reportedly asked them in Spanish, “How much would the bond be if I smacked her?”
The arrest report describes how Navarrete allegedly approached the victim and “struck the victim in the face,” targeting a 72-year-old “elderly woman.” Navarrete was subsequently arrested “without further incident” and held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Regarding Navarrete’s bond, local Miami station WPLG reported that she was detained on a $1,000 bond. However, she continued to be in custody on Monday since she was already on bond when the latest alleged offense took place.
Jail records show Navarrete had been charged with resisting an officer with violence to his/her person and three counts of battery on a law enforcement officer.
