A 23-year-old Wisconsin woman allegedly entered a Milwaukee high school posing as a substitute teacher, where police say she made offensive remarks, insulted students and used racial slurs.

Amy L. Jones faces one count of impersonating a public employee and five counts of exposing children to harmful descriptions.

The alleged incident took place Sept. 24 at Rufus King International High School in Milwaukee.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by Law&Crime, school officials discovered that an unauthorized woman had spent time teaching at least two classes. The principal contacted the staffing agency that provides substitute teachers, and the agency reportedly confirmed that Jones was not one of its employees.

Police say Jones arrived at the school that morning and told front-office employees she was there to fill in as a substitute. She was then directed to a classroom on the fifth floor.

Students later reported that Jones allegedly used profanity, made sexually derogatory comments, directed racial slurs at students and grouped classmates by race and gender. Investigators also said she boasted about having felony convictions and being willing to return to jail.

The affidavit said her behavior left the class feeling uncomfortable.

One student recorded part of the class, according to police. In the video, Jones allegedly swore, called one student “fat,” discussed sexual acts with male students and told another student to “shut the f— up.”

Investigators said the student also described Jones making racist comments about white students, including calling them “white as s—” and using an additional racial slur.

Students told investigators that another teacher remained in the room with Jones for roughly 20 minutes during the first class. According to the affidavit, Jones’ behavior changed after that teacher left.

Jones allegedly asked students whether anyone had marijuana, saying the class was “so f—ing lame and annoying,” police wrote.

Students reported the alleged conduct to school employees, prompting officials to investigate and determine that Jones was not an authorized substitute teacher.

Once the deception was uncovered, officers escorted Jones from the building. School employees told police that Jones had previously attended Rufus King as a student.

The principal told investigators that Jones had been able to enter the classroom because the school needed an additional substitute that day and staff initially believed she was legitimate, according to the affidavit.

During a police interview several days later, Jones allegedly appeared pleased by the attention surrounding the incident. Investigators wrote that she believed it might make her “famous” and seemed excited by that possibility, while officers suggested “infamous” would be more accurate.

“Amy was very excited about that thought, snapping her fingers and dancing,” the affidavit stated. “She said she can’t wait to get out.”

Jones reportedly told police that boredom motivated her decision to carry out the alleged school ruse.

“Amy stated she went to the school because she was bored,” officers wrote. “She stated she hates kids and she just wanted to ‘f— around.’”

Jones was arrested and booked into the Milwaukee County Jail, where she remains in custody. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 20.
