An 18-year-old from Tarneit was apprehended at his residence, while another 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were taken into custody at Highpoint Shopping Centre in Maribyrnong.

Photos from the scene reveal a machete lying near one of the suspects during the arrest, which authorities claim was in the possession of the 17-year-old at that time.

The trio now face several charges, including aggravated burglary, arson-related criminal damage, and cannabis possession.

The two men remain in custody and will appear before Melbourne Magistrates Court today.

The 17-year-old appeared in an after-hours court session last night, where law enforcement opposed his bail.

It comes as police look to halt a series of arson attacks on hospitality venues across Melbourne.
It is believed they are connected to the sale and trade of illicit alcohol, which is now booming in Victoria.
