A teenager was among three individuals detained yesterday in the western part of the city, linked to a series of suspected arsons targeting Melbourne’s dining establishments.
An 18-year-old from Tarneit was apprehended at his residence, while another 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were taken into custody at Highpoint Shopping Centre in Maribyrnong.
Photos from the scene reveal a machete lying near one of the suspects during the arrest, which authorities claim was in the possession of the 17-year-old at that time.
The trio now face several charges, including aggravated burglary, arson-related criminal damage, and cannabis possession.
The 17-year-old appeared in an after-hours court session last night, where law enforcement opposed his bail.
