‘Zaraz Could Be Anywhere’: Missing 7-Month-Old’s Disappearance Not Reported for a Week

A missing 7-month-old Illinois boy who was reported missing on Sunday may have vanished a week before authorities were alerted.

WICS reported that Kimberlee Burton, 29, was arrested for retail theft at a store in Bloomington on Saturday. The father of Burton’s two children, ages 5 and 6, had them picked up, and officers noticed at the time that there were no other children in the home.

The following day, someone called the police regarding Burton’s infant son, Zaraz Walker, as they could not find who was taking care of him. Bloomington police searched Burton’s home and found no sign of the infant despite there being evidence of him living there, according to WICS.

Zaraz was last seen five to seven days ago, and could be anywhere,” police Chief Jamal Simington said, according to WGLT.

On Monday, Burton was charged with felony child endangerment for allegedly leaving her two other children home unattended after her arrest on Saturday.

Walker remains unaccounted for as of Wednesday.

“We’re not ruling out the possibility that some person may have the baby and taken care of her and hasn’t reached out to the police, or doesn’t know who to reach out to,” police spokesperson John Fermon told WGLT.

Walker has black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should call Bloomington police Detective Jared Bierbaum at 309-434-2807 or jbierbaum@cityblm.org.
