Australian Disney+ subscribers are set to pay more for their streaming plans for the second time in less than 15 months.

The renowned streaming service recently informed its users via email about an immediate increase in subscription fees. For new subscribers, the standard monthly rate will now be $17.99, up from the previous $15.99. Existing customers will see this change reflected in their next billing cycle.

Those who opt for an annual payment plan for the standard subscription will see their fees rise from $159.99 to $179.99, marking a $20 increase.

Premium monthly subscribers are facing a price increase as well, with rates rising from $20.99 to $24.99. For those on an annual plan, the increase is $30, bringing the total to $249.99 per year.

This marks the second price adjustment for Australian users in approximately 14 months. During this period, the premium tier has experienced a notable jump, escalating from $17.99 to $24.99. This change follows a $4 increase last March, which was implemented to include additional ESPN and Hulu content.

Amidst these price changes, the platform has introduced a new, more affordable option. The Standard with Ads plan is now available for $9.99, catering to budget-conscious customers.

The price change coincides with the launch of a new budget-conscious Standard with Ads plan priced at $9.99.

Customers on promotional offers will not incur the increase, Disney+ said.

More than two-thirds of Australians had a paid streaming subscription last year, the research found.
