In a tragic turn of events, Michael David McKee has been apprehended following the fatal shooting of his ex-wife and her current husband in their Columbus, Ohio home. The incident unfolded in late December, leaving the community in shock.

Authorities were alerted on the morning of December 30th, after Dr. Spencer Tepe, a 37-year-old dentist, failed to appear for work. Upon investigation, police discovered both Tepe and his wife, Monique Tepe, aged 39, dead from gunshot wounds in their Weinland Park residence.

Michael David McKee, who is a 39-year-old vascular surgeon residing in Chicago, was arrested over the weekend in connection to the double homicide. The charges against him include two counts of murder, as confirmed by law enforcement.

The couple’s deaths have sent ripples through their community and beyond. Monique and Spencer Tepe were on the brink of celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary, a fact shared by grieving family members to local news outlet WSYX.

McKee’s history with Monique traces back to their marriage in 2015, which ended in divorce just two years later in 2017. The separation was reportedly amicable, as noted by the Columbus Dispatch, with McKee residing in Virginia at the time the divorce was finalized.

Tepe and her husband were just about to celebrate their fifth anniversary when they were killed, a family member told WSYX.

McKee was booked at the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois just before noon on Saturday, records show, and is charged with two counts of murder in Ohio.

Police tracked McKee through his vehicle, which was caught on neighborhood surveillance feeds, later finding it near where he worked in Rockford, Illinois, court documents said.

His car was seen arriving shortly before the time the murders were believed to have been committed and left shortly after, according to court documents.

A warrant was put out for his arrest on Saturday, shortly before he was taken into custody.

He will next be extradited to Franklin County, Ohio, and is scheduled for a hearing there on Jan. 12, according to the Dispatch.

Police have not given a motive in the shooting.

Before his arrest, a surveillance video allegedly showed McKee, then unidentified, as a person of interest in the murders, after he was seen walking in an alley around the believed timeframe of the murders — 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Dec. 30.
