Alejandro Garnacho’s brother has sparked fears among Manchester United fans that Erik ten Hag could be sacked later today.

The Red Devils are in the midst of an end-of-season review which, when concluded, could see the Dutchman ousted as manager following a disappointing league campaign.

The club’s minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made a number of significant changes to transform the club off the field and there has been rampant speculation in recent months that a similar change will come in the dug out.

Garnacho’s brother, Roberto, replied to a post on X on Tuesday which has put Red Devils fans on high alert.

‘Tomorrow might be the worst day of my life,’ the post from one United fan read. ‘Currently looking into the stars, tears building up in my eyes. I can’t fathom Ten Hag going.’

Garnacho replied: ‘Same, and I’m not even joking, let’s pray for us.’

His social media prompted reactions from like-minded supporters keen to see the former Ajax manager remain in post.

One fan wrote: ‘He’s gone ig.’ Another said: ‘Unfortunately, We should Accept he’s gone.

‘I mean it’s pathetic all you do is move on and hope Ineos made the right decision plus see how it plans out over time into next season etc. Even if you disagree with it If they do sack him we don’t know for what reasons yet nor could be mutual parting ways.’ A third fan wrote.

‘He’s garn then?’ Asked another supporter.

Further intrigue has been added to the comment due to the fact that it was quickly deleted. This is not the first time Roberto Garnacho has made his feelings known on social media.

Just last month he trolled City manager Pep Guardiola by sharing a modified image that was taken from the video game Grand Theft Auto, which features character Franklin and his dog, Chop.

It shows the character stood with a baseball bat, holding onto Rottweiler Chop via a steel chain.

In the post, Roberto had changed the face of Franklin to be Garnacho’s face, while Guardiola’s face was edited onto Chop’s body.

Many United fans were convinced his reply signalled that the former Ajax coach will soon be relieved of his duties at Old Trafford

The caption read: ‘Manchester is red Pepe,’ with the teenager a regular on social media, defending his brother from critics and taking aim at his rivals.

In April, he took full advantage of Liverpool misery after their shock 3-0 home defeat by Atalanta in the Europa League with a post targeting both the club and Reds legend Jamie Carragher.

He wrote to the former defender on X: ‘Your team is absolutely dog***t’.

Meanwhile, at Old Trafford, further evidence of the sweeping change set to take place this summer came with the news of the reported departure of first team coach Benni McCarthy.

The former Premier League striker is considered an integral part of the coaching staff at Old Trafford, and is reportedly a close ally of Ten Hag. His contract is set to expire in June, but according to the Mirror, the club have opted not to renew it.

Another key member of United’s coaching staff, Eric Ramsay, recently left the club to become head coach at Minnesota United.

The situation highlights the uncertainty since Ineos moved into the club following Ratcliffe’s £1.3billion investment.

As well as changes to the football operation, it emerged this week that United have appointed corporate restructuring firm Interpath in a move that could lead to job cuts of up to 25 per cent.

Ratcliffe is also enforcing another dramatic change at the club, after giving all non-football staff a one-week ultimatum to return to the office, or take voluntary redundancy by June 1.

It’s anticipated that up to a fifth of the 1,100 workforce could go as United look to save money.
