Simon Fuller, who managed the Spice Girls in the 1990s and then created American Idol in the 2000s, is now reportedly headed for divorce.
It emerged Friday that the English entrepreneur’s American wife Natalie Swinston filed documents that day to dissolve their marriage.
The development comes exactly three weeks before what would have been the longtime couple’s 17th wedding anniversary.
Swinston is reportedly demanding alimony and is asking the court to prevent her estranged husband from seeking spousal support.
She has requested joint legal custody of her and Fuller’s three children, a 14-year-old daughter called Grace and two nine-year-old twins, according to TMZ.
Fuller and Swinston are said to have signed a prenuptial agreement ahead of their star-studded wedding at a Napa Valley vineyard.

She filed for divorce on grounds of ‘irreconcilable differences’ and gave the couple’s date of separation as this Friday, the day she submitted her documents.
After a long romance, Fuller tied the knot with Natalie Swinston on May 30, 2009 at a glitzy Napa Valley ceremony attended by a fleet of showbiz names including the Spice Girls, Claudia Schiffer, Leona Lewis and Annie Lennox.
‘One of the secrets to our marriage is we are very rarely apart,’ he told Harper’s Bazaar in a joint interview with his wife the year after their wedding.
‘We are lucky enough to have houses all over the world, so when we travel, we can still have a home life. It never feels like I am traveling for work.’
Fuller shot to fame in the 1990s as the manager of the Spice Girls, with press reports describing him as the group’s ‘Svengali.’
In 2001 he created the British reality competition series Pop Idol, which only enjoyed a brief run – but when he followed it up with its US spinoff American Idol, he struck gold, creating the television juggernaut that viewers watch in droves today.
His managerial career also continued, as he represented a dazzling array of musical acts ranging from Annie Lennox to Amy Winehouse.
Fuller also for a time handled the careers of American Idol winners Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, as well as Lisa Marie Presley and Steven Tyler.

Fuller partnered with David on a variety of business ventures ranging from whiskey to fashion to leisure and sport, fostering the sportsman and his wife’s transformation into the ‘Brand Beckham.’
