Nathan Ake‘s controversial 88th-minute goal secured Manchester City’s first-ever victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The goal came under check by VAR, with Tottenham Hotspur claiming a foul by Ruben Dias on their goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario before Ake found the net.

However, the on-field referee and VAR upheld the goal, ending City’s goal drought at the stadium.

The FA Cup match had been largely uneventful until City’s late surge in the last 20 minutes.

Despite early dominance from City and a few missed opportunities, the game lacked the usual thrill seen in clashes between the two Premier League giants.

The tension escalated in the second half as City intensified their attacks, with substitute Kevin De Bruyne bringing in the needed energy for offensive efforts.

A series of near misses and a disallowed goal kept the game on a knife-edge until Ake’s strike finally broke the deadlock for the visitors who now move to the next round of the tournament.
