Celebrity MasterChef: Gemma Collins Eliminated Just Before Semi-Finals

Gemma Collins has long been loved for her larger-than-life charm, quick wit and unmistakable “GC” diva energy.

However, the reality TV favourite’s Celebrity MasterChef journey came to an end on Friday night after her sea bass dish failed to win over the judges — not least because it was served on greaseproof paper.

The 37-year-old TOWIE star missed out on a place in the semi-finals, with head chef Frank calling her a “nightmare” after she recruited two of his sous chefs for assistance. Viewers, meanwhile, flooded Twitter with reactions to her typically dramatic kitchen antics.

Earlier in the episode, Collins teamed up with Stefanie Reid for the opening challenge, set by judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode. The pair were tasked with recreating a dish of beef fillet with bacon, Béarnaise sauce, straw potatoes and buttered rainbow chard.

Before the pressure test began, the duo were split by a divider and forced to rely purely on communication to make their plates match. Collins admitted: “I’m sick to the core. I feel very nervous about this but I’m going to smash it. Watch this space.”

Although she managed to curdle the Béarnaise sauce and even had to ask whether egg yolks were the “yellow” parts, Collins and Reid still earned praise from the judges for their determination and teamwork.

However, in the next challenge tempers frayed, with head-chef Frank branding Gemma a ‘queen’ and a ‘nightmare’ after the GC used all her charm to get his cooks to rush to her aid.

Declaring she needed a brandy after the success of her first meal, Gemma was paired with Zoe Lyons to make 50 main courses and 70 desserts for hungry staff at Heathrow airport, with many air hostess’ applauding her ‘delicious’ sausage casserole and pleasant apple crumble.

Success: Despite curdling the Bearnaise sauce and asking if egg yolks were the 'yellow' bits, the judges applauded the television personality and Stephanie for their efforts
