Emma Watson brings a touch of magic to the Academy Award red carpet

Emma Watson delivered a striking red-carpet moment at the 86th Academy Awards in California, marking her first appearance at the star-studded annual ceremony.

The 23-year-old actress, known for recent roles in The Bling Ring and My Week With Marilyn, drew attention as she arrived at the Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles on Sunday evening.

Stepping out with polished confidence, the Paris-born and British-raised performer looked every bit the established screen star as she made her way along the red carpet.

Watson chose a metallic and black Vera Wang gown, with a sleeveless cut that showed off her arms and a flared hemline that created a graceful hourglass silhouette.

Accessorising with Jimmy Choo heels, a silver clutch bag and some intricate rings, she also wore her hair up in a relaxed bun for added style.

But more than just a special guest, this year, the English rose is also making her presenting debut at the ceremony – by bestowing the award for special effects.

While the talented star is not nominated this awards season, there is already plenty of buzz surrounding her upcoming project Noah.

The Biblical drama, starring Russell Crowe in the title role, is set for release on March 28 and is helmed by Oscar-nominated Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky.

Paramount Pictures announced on Thursday that the film will now carry an ‘explanatory disclaimer’ following conversations between the studio and conservative Christian organisation National Religious Broadcasters.

The disclaimer will read: ‘The film is inspired by the story of Noah. While artistic license has been taken, we believe that this film is true to the essence, values, and integrity of a story that is a cornerstone of faith for millions of people worldwide.

‘The biblical story of Noah can be found in the book of Genesis.

The message will run on all ‘future marketing materials… the film’s official website and 100 per cent
of print and radio, as well as a percentage of the film’s online and broadcast’.
