Being a music superstar isn’t for the weak.

Jennifer Lopez suffered a gnarly facial injury while rehearsing for the 2025 American Music Awards which she’s hosting on May 26.

The singer, 55, shared a photo to her Instagram Stories Tuesday of her icing her injured nose. “So this happened…,” Lopez wrote.

In the next slide, Lopez showed off a cut on her nose in another selfie. “During @amas rehearsals,” she wrote about how the injury occurred.

A third post featured Lopez posing with Beverly Hills-based facial plastic surgeon Dr. Diamond who treated her wound.

“Thank you for stitching me up Dr. Diamond,” she wrote. “A week later and a whole lotta ice and I’m good as new.”

Lopez is hosting the AMAs at the BleauLive Theater in Las Vegas in less than two weeks. She previously emceed the show in 2015.

“We are excited to have Jennifer Lopez return as the host for the American Music Awards,” stated Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, in a press release last month. “Jennifer’s exceptional talent and unmatched stage presence make her the perfect choice to lead the show. We are confident that she will infuse the event with her unique energy, marking the official commencement of summer celebrations.”

The upcoming show features nominations for artists like Ariana Grande, Chappell Roan, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar, Morgan Wallen, Sabrina Carpenter, Benson Boone, and Bruno Mars.

Lopez, who has won three AMAs, danced to a medley of the biggest songs of 2015 when she hosted the first time.

In her opening remarks, she expressed her long-standing love for the award show, which she has cherished since childhood, and paid tribute to music icons such as Whitney Houston, Michael and Janet Jackson, Madonna, and Prince.

“This show truly inspired me,” she said on stage, “and made me dream that someday I could be one of the lucky ones who got to appear on the stage and perform for you, the fans of music everywhere.”

Lopez previously injured herself when she performed at the 2009 AMAs. She said on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” at the time that she was “messed up” from the fall.

“One of the dancer’s backs was slippery from sweat and lights and everything,” she explained of how the mishap happened. “We never bargained for that, because they always had t-shirts on in rehearsal. So they were barebacked, didn’t have shirts on for the performance and when I stepped on their backs my feet got wet. So when I landed it just slipped from under me.”

As Lopez prepared to redo her performance with a cushion, knee pad and helmet, she joked, “I’m going to try my hardest not to fall on my ass.”

The 2025 American Music Awards are airing May 26 on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
