Katie Holmes (FINALLY) nails her perfect look in short '60s minidress

Despite having access to the world’s top stylists, fashion designer and celebrity Katie Holmes has often faced challenges in finding a style that truly suits her.

However, it appears that the 35-year-old actress has finally found her fashion stride. On Tuesday, she made a stunning appearance at a Tiffany’s event, channeling a classic look reminiscent of the TV series Mad Men.

The transformation was remarkable, as the Dawson’s Creek alum looked revitalized, more radiant, and undeniably stylish, arguably the best she’s looked in years.

Modish: Katie Holmes looked sensational in a ’60s inspired shift and pumps at the Tiffany & Blue Book Celebration on Thursday in New York

Katie dazzled in a chic navy shift dress with a sophisticated cream underlay that beautifully complemented her timeless figure.

Her slender legs were elegantly showcased by versatile pointed pumps, a style that has remained popular since the swinging sixties.

Holmes completed her retro-inspired ensemble with a chignon hairstyle, artfully styled with a sweeping half fringe, reinforcing her vintage vibe.

Makeup and jewellery was kept to a minimum, in the former’s case the emphasis was on pretty pink and kohled eyes.

She’s got it: Katie’s found her signature look, and it swings

Perfection: Katie looked wonderful in her simple frock

The independent young woman -who has denied she is dating comedian Jason Segal –  attended the event solo.

Life has moved on in the 21 months since Katie’s split from Tom Cruise, and she has done a fantastic job of reinventing herself as a working actress with a routine and relatively low-profile.

Aced: Katie’s Jackie O inspired looked trumped Jessica Biel’s ostensibly more glamorous dress

Confident: Katie knew she’d scored a hit

Key to achieving this was her move to New York, ostensibly to be nearer Broadway but also, it seems, so she can lose herself in the masses of Manhattan.

She certainly seems to enjoy the bustle, which is the antithesis of the deserted yet lushly manicured sidewalks of Beverly Hills where she lived with the 51-year-old megastar.

In Holmes’ Hollywood, getting around would involve nothing more liberating than a blacked out Escalade or pedalling on the spot at Soul Cycle.

Swaying to the beat: Katie looked like she was about to burst into song at some points

Titfer tat: Katie was sporting a jaunty purple hat that was somewhere between a fedora and a trilby

Concrete jungle where dreams are made of: Katie seems in her element now she can walk about the city daily

She’s frequently seen strolling the city streets merrily.

And recently, Katie has been busy filming her new show in the city that never sleeps.

According to Deadline Hollywood, the series is ‘in the vein of Dangerous Liaisons’.

Comfortable footwear: The Louboutins now stay in the box as far as Ms Holmes is concerned

By her side: Last week, Katie took Suri to the set of her new series so she could see the action firsthand

Penned by Richard LaGravenese the untitled New York set project ‘revolves around the love and rivalry between two equally matched, powerful socialites, Philip Fitzgerald Julien (Rufus Sewell) and Margot Worth Cole, who play out their obsessive attraction and seduction of each other through their manipulation of others’.

Katie’s character is also a powerful player in the well-to-do world.

Named Ann, Katie’s character along with her with her husband, runs a philanthropic foundation that helps bring clean water to African villages.

Business as usual: Tom is still working the megastar rounds, here in London he signs autographs before accepting Lifetime Achievement at the Empire Film Awards
