Aaron Carter’s mother, Jane Carter Schneck, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $85,000 to cover the administrative expenses needed for awarding him a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

As of Thursday morning, the campaign has garnered just $366.

In her GoFundMe post on Tuesday, Jane Carter Schneck explained that the funds will be used for “the creation, installation, and long-term maintenance of the star.”

She described the fundraiser as a collaborative effort from “fans, friends, and supporters to honor Aaron Carter’s legacy.”

The process for securing a star involves Carter’s family submitting a formal nomination, followed by approval from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which selects about 30 celebrities each year from numerous nominations.

Aaron Carter tragically passed away at the age of 34 in November 2022. He was found in his bathtub at his Lancaster, California home, having consumed Xanax and inhaled compressed air.

The grieving mother of the late entertainer said that smaller donations or shares of the campaign were meaningful gestures amid the effort ‘to celebrate Aaron’s life, his music, and the lasting mark he left on so many hearts.’

Carter Schneck on Wednesday told TMZ that she was trying to raise the funds ahead of a May 15 application deadline.

Aaron ‘would’ve loved’ having a star on the Southern California landmark, Carter Schneck told the outlet, adding that she and her late son would visit the Walk of Fame during their outings in the area, as well as magic shops.

Carter Schneck told the outlet that she told Aaron when he was 12, ‘You’re going to be there someday,’ a notion he agreed with.

Aaron’s brother, Backstreet Boys artist Nick Carter, 46, and twin sister Angel Carter, 38, are supportive of the effort, their mother said.

Carter Schneck said she believed the late singer’s ‘fans will play a major role in bringing the tribute to life’ in a loving memorial to the late entertainer.

Carter’s autopsy results showed he had consumed alprazolam, which is a generic form of Xanax, and inhaled compressed difluoroethane,’ according to a report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner in 2023.

Carter inhaled compressed difluoroethane, a propellant used in cans of compressed air, a practice commonly known as ‘huffing.’

The singer was ‘incapacitated while in the bathtub due to the effects’ of the substances, according to officials. His body was found in his home November 5, 2022.

Authorities said in a subsequent report that the entertainer, under the influence of the substances, ‘slipped under the water’ and drowned accidentally.

Carter was 10-years-old at the time of the release of his debut album in December of 1997. He was a supporting act at the time for his older brother’s boy band, the Backstreet Boys.

He had his biggest commercial success in 2000 with the hit singles Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) and I Want Candy.

Carter also had cameos on TV shows such as Lizzie McGuire, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and 7th Heaven.

According to the GoFundMe, other endeavors included ‘a top-five finish on Dancing with the Stars’ in 2009, and forays into ‘stage acting and independent music.’

The statement on the fundraiser declared, ‘Aaron Carter’s impact on a generation of young fans and his contributions to pop music continue to resonate, securing his legacy as an influential figure in early 2000s entertainment.’
