Carlo Ancelotti reportedly has until New Year’s Eve to give his approval to become the next manager of Brazil.

The Real Madrid boss has been widely tipped to leave his post at the Santiago Bernabeu to make his first venture into international management with the South American nation.

Brazil Football Confederation president Ednaldo Rodrigues claimed in July that Ancelotti will take over from current interim boss Fernando Diniz by the time of the 2024 Copa America in the United States next June.

Spanish radio station Cadena Cope have now reported that it is ‘expected’ for the 64-year-old Italian to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season.

While Ancelotti is expected to join Brazil, it’s said that he would need to give them his approval by December 31 to make the idea a reality.

Brazil hired Fluminense boss Diniz as interim manager back in July to replace Tite – who departed after their disappointing World Cup 2022 performance where they were knocked out by Croatia in the quarter-finals.

Ancelotti has repeatedly been asked about a potential future with Brazil during his press conferences, but has always played off the rumours, insisting that he is happy at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Italian, one of the most decorated managers of all time, has enjoyed a successful second stint with Real Madrid after joining from Everton in June 2021.

After previously winning the Champions League with them in 2014, he did so again in 2022, beating Liverpool 1-0 in the final.

He also won the LaLiga title in the 2021-22 season after failing to do so during his first reign which lasted two seasons.

Madrid are currently top of the league standings, level on 28 points with Girona.
