Kai Schreiber, the daughter of Aussie actress Naomi Watts, has given her famous mother cause for concern.
The model, 16, took to Instagram on Thursday, following her catwalk turn at Milan Fashion Week, to share a seemingly innocuous black and white photo.
The image showed Kai sitting next to a friend, who offered the camera a dramatic expression.
However, Kai was puffing on what appeared to be a cigarette in the snap.
The rebellious act is frowned upon in Milan, as the legal smoking age in Italy is 18. Similarly, in Kai’s home country, the US, she won’t legally be able to smoke until she’s 21.
Kai was channelling quite the rocker look in the image.

She was wearing a black leather military-style jacket that featured an array of brass buttons.
Kai also wore a black and white striped top underneath the jacket, and finished the look with a pair of light blue denim jeans.
She also accessorised with a black leather shoulder bag, which sat next to her on the pavement.
It comes after Kai suffered an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction on the runway at Milan Fashion Week.
She stormed the catwalk at Max Mara’s Spring/Summer 2026 show on Thursday. However, things went awry when her black crop top started slipping down.
Footage from the runway showed Kai subtly adjusting her top with one hand as she continued to strut confidently down the catwalk.
Never one to take herself too seriously, the transgender model later shared the video on her Instagram, captioning it: ‘My top fell off at @maxmara lolz.’
Fans commended the rising supermodel for her professional handling of the incident, with one remarking: ‘Didn’t even notice. I thought it was part of the show!’

Kai recently opened up about her journey with gender identity – and a major role model in her life.
She told Interview Magazine in June that she has studied how people in the transgender community have navigated stormy waters in the past.
Kai mentioned she struggled with ‘gender identity from a young age’ and always aspired to grow up to be a ‘beautiful, glamorous, influential woman, like Marilyn Monroe.’
She also named figures she found inspirational ‘as a young trans girl’ navigating life through turbulent times for the community.
‘I’m always going to look up to the older generation of transgender people, especially in fashion,’ Kai told the magazine.
‘People like Alex Consani, Hunter Schafer, Hari Nef, Dara, Richie Shazam, Colin Jones, and so many more,’ Kai said.
‘It’s so great that there’s a strong community of us in the fashion world; it’s really a doll takeover.’
Kai is the youngest child of Naomi Watts and fellow actor Liev Schreiber. The couple also share a son, Sacha, 17.
