Neighbour dispute turns violent as father and son allegedly stabbed

An alleged stabbing incident in front of horrified youngsters left a father and son in critical condition, necessitating urgent medical intervention.

Authorities responded to an emergency call at a residence on Palm Street in Girraween, a suburb in western Sydney, around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, following reports of a violent stabbing incident.

The police were informed that a confrontation involving three individuals had escalated, resulting in two of them being repeatedly stabbed in the torso.

The injured parties, identified as 56-year-old Shane Hunt and his 30-year-old son, Shane Junior, were immediately transported to the hospital with severe injuries threatening their lives.

In surveillance video obtained by Nine News, a man dressed in black is seen approaching the property in Girraween, where he was met by one of the Hunt family members, who attempted to defend himself with a chair.

Despite their efforts, the father and son were unable to repel the alleged assailant, who repeatedly stabbed them in the backyard, forcing children present at the scene to flee in terror.

A neighbour called emergency services after seeing the alleged victims covered in blood.

‘He was covered all over in blood and he was saying “I’ve been stabbed and sliced”,’ neighbour, Artheek Subrkamya told the publication.

A 37-year-old man, who had injuries to his arms, was also taken to hospital following the alleged incident.

He was subsequently arrested on Tuesday and taken to Granville Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of attempted murder.

The alleged attacker was refused bail and is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.

Shane Junior’s sister, Leonie Hunt, shared details of the alleged incident in an emotional GoFundMe campaign.

‘Both my dad and my brother were (allegedly) violently attacked in their own home by a neighbour who (allegedly) came onto our property and stabbed them,’ she claimed.

‘My dad was targeted, and my brother stepped in without hesitation to protect him and they both prevented him from reaching the young children inside.

‘They had just been picked up from school by their grandpa – my dad – and instead they were exposed to something no child should ever have to witness.’

Ms Hunt said the children were not hurt and ran to other neighbours to call for help, adding: ‘We plan to help them emotionally (recover) from this traumatic event.’

She alleged that ‘this was not the first incident involving this neighbour’.

‘We have had many (alleged) harassments, threats especially to our children,’ she claimed.

‘No one should have to live in fear in their own home.’

Meanwhile, the father and son were able to share an emotional reunion in hospital after both undergoing surgery.

Footage showed the pair hugging while one lay down in his hospital bed, both covered in bandages, and both with casts on their arms.

An investigation into the circumstances remains ongoing.

Ms Hunt said she set up the GoFundMe, which has raised $4,000 so far, to help pay for her father and brother’s medical expenses, time off work and whatever they need during their recovery.
