Two years after the release of her stand-up special Leanne Morgan: I’m Every Woman on Netflix, comedian Leanne Morgan is set to headline her own sitcom on the platform, with fans recently catching a sneak peek of the new show.
Morgan, who recently appeared in the Prime Video film You’re Cordially Invited alongside Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon and co-hosted Today with Jenna & Friends with Jenna Bush Hager on Monday — with another appearance scheduled for Tuesday, June 3 — is collaborating with co-creators Chuck Lorre, known for Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory, and Susan McMartin, known for Two and a Half Men and Mom, for the upcoming series.
Alongside Nick Bakay and Judi Marmel, the trio are executive producers of the show. Although news of the collaboration between Morgan and Lorre on a multi-camera comedy surfaced in April, Netflix recently shared images from the series last Wednesday, May 28, alongside the show’s description and cast details.
So, what is Leanne about? Who is starring in the new sitcom? Here is everything we know about Leanne.
What is Leanne about?
According to the streamer’s logline, Leanne follows Morgan as Leanne, whose “life takes an unexpected turn when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman.”
“Starting over when you’re a grandmother and in menopause isn’t exactly what she had in mind, but with the help of her family she will navigate this new chapter with grace, dignity and jello salad,” the logline continues.
Morgan told People that her new show “isn’t based” on her life, noting that she is “still happily married” to her husband, Chuck Morgan. However, she did highlight that the show is “inspired” by her life.
“I’m excited to share more about myself and where I come from with viewers, and I can’t wait for y’all to see the incredible cast they’ve paired me with,” she said.
