Oasis star Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs has disclosed that he has prostate cancer. Due to his treatment, he will be absent from part of the band’s reunion tour.

The legendary guitarist, 60, shared the devastating news with fans in a post on X this evening.

Bonehead said he had received the diagnosis earlier this year and was responding well to treatment.

However, he is set to miss Oasis’s Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney gigs before returning as the band heads to South America.

In a statement, the guitarist said: ‘Early this year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

‘The good news is I’m responding really well to treatment, which meant I could be part of this incredible tour.

‘Now, I am having to take a planned break for the next phase of my care, so I’ll be missing the gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney.

‘I’m really sad to be missing these shows but l’m feeling good and will be back ready to go in time for South America.

‘Have an amazing time if you’re going this month and I’ll see you back onstage with the band in November.’

Bonehead, who was previously diagnosed with tonsil cancer in April 2022, has been credited with helping reunite the Gallagher brothers.

At the start of their sell-out tour he was praised by Liam and Noel, who confirmed he is one of the main reasons the band are back together.

Bonehead was an original member of the Britpop band and has remained friends with both brothers over the years.

A source had previously informed The Mirror: ‘Bonehead is one of the few mutual friends they both have, and he has been trying to bring them together. It’s finally worked.’

He departed from Oasis in 1999 during the making of their fourth album, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, stating he wanted to dedicate more time to his family in an official statement.

Bonehead has performed with Liam in recent years.

In September 2022, the guitarist revealed he had been given the all-clear following his tonsil cancer diagnosis.

‘Update on my cancer, I had a full scan 10 days ago, and it’s all clear—it’s gone,’ Bonehead shared on Instagram, in a post that bandmate Liam ‘liked.’

‘Thank you so much all of you for the messages I’ve had throughout, you’ve helped me more than you know.’

He continued to express gratitude to the healthcare professionals who supported him during his ordeal, writing: ‘Thank you especially to the team @TheChristieNHS, I’m now in recovery, and I’ll see you all soon x (sic).’
