Dan Sarginson will miss the rest of the season due to shoulder surgery. The Salford Red Devils star hasn’t played since picking up an injury against Hull FC and will now miss the remainder of the season.
Head coach Paul Rowley confirmed the news following their defeat to Wakefield Trinity, admitting his season is now over. It’s a cruel blow for the Reds, who will also be without James Greenwood for the rest of the season after he sustained an injury in their defeat to Wigan Warriors in the Challenge Cup last week.
Salford, who lost 30-24 to Wakefield, were also without Joe Burgess, with the winger missing the game through a knee problem. “I thought we were great with the ball today but we left ourselves with too much to do in the second half,” Rowley said after the game, having watched his side go 24-4 down in the opening 40 minutes.
“To get five tries, home or away, you should be winning so today was purely our defence.”
Sarginson joined the club from Wigan Warriors ahead of the 2020 season and has been with the club since. Burgess, who Paul Rowley claimed should be in England reckoning last month, signed from the Warriors a year later.
