Barry Morphew was indicted on Friday with a first-degree murder charge in the death of his wife, Suzanne Morphew.

In May 2020, Suzanne Morphew disappeared, and it wasn’t until September 2023 that her remains were discovered in Colorado. Barry Morphew faced charges related to her death over two years later. This renewed attempt to prosecute follows the dropping of similar charges in 2022 due to misconduct by the prosecution.

Here’s a timeline of Suzanne Morphew’s disappearance and Barry Morphew’s alleged involvement:

An autopsy ruled Suzanne Morphew’s death a homicide with butorphanol, azaperone, and medetomidine intoxication in her body, according to CBI.

June 20, 2025:

An indictment by a grand jury accused Barry Morphew of first-degree murder concerning the death of Suzanne Morphew. His arrest took place in the vicinity of Phoenix, Arizona.

Prosecutors revealed that Suzanne Morphew’s body contained butorphanol, azaperone, and medetomidine (BAM). The indictment stated that Barry Morphew employed “BAM” as a tranquilizer in the process of sedating and transporting deer on his deer farm.

According to investigators, Morphew was the only person in any surrounding counties who had purchased a BAM prescription between 2017-2020.

Morphew’s attorney, David Beller, told Fox News Digital Morphew “maintains his innocence.”

“Yet again, the government allows their predetermined conclusion to lead their search for evidence,” Beller said. “The case has not changed, and the outcome will not either.”
