Grimsby Town boss Paul Hurst has revealed talks with Sheffield Wednesday will take place in the coming days over Alex Hunt’s future.

The Owls youngster is currently on loan with the National League side but his loan is set to expire later this month.

Hunt has received glowing praise from a number of teammates but his contract at Hillsborough is up in the summer, and Darren Moore’s side have a decision to make.

In recent weeks, Hunt has been linked with a number of Premier League and Championship sides after impressing for the Mariners.

Hurst previously stated that uncertainty over Hunt’s future could impact the possibility of extending his loan at Blundell Park.

Now, the Grimsby Town boss has given an update on the 21-year-old’s loan.

“There will be conversations happening over the next day or two days,” Hurst said.

“They’re not particularly straightforward, so we will see what happens with those.

“It’s not as easy as saying we want them to be here. I think we need to evaluate everything in truth.

“There are some changes I’d like to make and that’s not trying to be critical of the player we have. How we do that without stockpiling players is something I have to consider.”
