After leaked photographs, Xolo Mariduena, who will play Jaime Reyes in the DCEU’s Blue Beetle live-action film, thanks fans for the outfit love.
After shots of his superhero outfit were leaked from set images, Xolo Mariduena, who will play Jaime Reyes in Warner Bros.’ live-action film Blue Beetle, thanked dedicated fans for their support. Warner Bros. is continuing working on transferring many classic DC heroes and villains from panel to screen as the DCEU progresses. Blue Beetle is one of the next superheroes to get the big screen treatment, with Mariduena as Jaime in the film. While it was originally planned as an HBO Max original, Warner Bros. and DC Films changed their minds, and it will now be released as a theatrical summer film in 2023.
Blue Beetle tells the story of Jaime, a young adolescent whose life is turned upside down when he discovers a powerful extraterrestrial scarab that changes him into the titular hero. Jaime is one of several characters who have taken on the role of Blue Beetle. Dan Garrett was the first to win, followed by Ted Kord. While Jaime was featured in a season 10 episode of Smallville, this will be his debut appearance on the big screen. Blue Beetle has officially begun production as of this week, and it didn’t take long for Jaime’s costume to be leaked via set images.
How Does The Design Of DC’s Live-Action Blue Beetle Compare To The Comics?
Fans have already embraced the Blue Beetle suit on social media, as it’s typical for major motion productions to unveil things through set shots. Mariduena, who is most known for his role in Cobra Kai, used his Instagram account to thank all of the dedicated fans who have backed the costume since it first surfaced online. Despite the fact that actors don’t often respond to leaked photographs, Mariduena wanted everyone to know that he had seen the positive reaction. Take a look at his post below.
During the film’s appearance at DC FanDome in 2021, the Blue Beetle suit was first revealed through concept drawings. Many internet fan replies agree that Blue Beetle’s costume looks exactly like what was shown in concept images. A live-action outfit usually looks different than it does on the page, but Jaime’s suit translated nicely from the Blue Beetle concept art in this case. Given that the initial look came from unauthorised set photos, promotional photographs and completed film will almost definitely look even better.
Now that principal photography on Blue Beetle has begun, more information about the DCEU picture will most certainly start to emerge in the following weeks. While Blue Beetle has a large ensemble, the most intriguing question so far is who Harvey Guillén (What We Do In The Shadows) will play in the film. Another unsolved question concerns Ted Kord’s involvement with Blue Beetle. Despite the fact that Jason Sudeikis’ casting rumour was just disproved, the former hero could yet appear in Blue Beetle in some manner.
