Chelsea host Chesterfield in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday evening as the National League side look to spring the biggest of surprises against the Champions League holders.

James Rowe’s side are top of the National League and impressively beat League Two side Salford City away to reach this stage, but Chelsea are quite a number of steps up from that challenge.

When is Chelsea vs Chesterfield?

The match kicks off at 5.30pm on Saturday 8 January at Stamford Bridge.

How to watch Chelsea vs Chesterfield

The game will be shown on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.

Hull City vs Everton is being shown on BBC One at the same time.

Chelsea vs Chesterfield team news

Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Cesar Azpilicueta and Kai Havertz are available, while Andreas Christensen should be back from injury, although Thiago Silva and N’Golo Kante remain out with Covid and both Ben Chilwell and Reece James are still sidelined.

The German said he would rotate his first team, but still field a strong XI.

‘We have to find the balance because we also want to be reliable, be fair to the guys who play after injuries and Covid. I think we have five substitutions which give us a lot of options, which is good,’ said Tuchel on Friday.

‘Of course, we want to use the match to get some minutes into the guys who desperately need it and want it. Like Timo (Werner) for example. But there is still another training session, there are still one or two more Covid tests. Hopefully, the situation stays as it is now.

‘Then we will find a strong line-up and show all the respect to the team and club of Chesterfield. It is the FA Cup and if we want to go to the next round we have to win this match. Nothing else.’
