Sheffield United have emerged at the front of the queue to sign Manchester United teenager Amad Diallo on loan after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided he would not have many first team opportunities at Old Trafford this season.
The Red Devils signed the winger for £37m last season and he arrived from Atalanta in January, going on to make eight appearances in all competitions over the second half of the season.
He scored one goal in that time, netting against AC Milan in the Europa League, while three of his appearances came in the Premier League.
However, competition was already fierce in United’s front three, with Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Daniel James, Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani ahead of Diallo last season.
Since then Jadon Sancho has arrived in the biggest signing of the summer from Borussia Dortmund, while Jesse Lingard has also returned from his loan spell at West Ham and Anthony Elanga had an extremely impressive pre-season.
As such, Diallo is free to leave on loan this season, finding himself in the same situation as Facundo Pellistri who has moved to Alaves on a short-term deal.
TalkSPORT report that Sheffield United are keen to bring the Ivory Coast international to South Yorkshire as they look to bounce straight back into the Premier League after last season’s relegation.
It has been a slow start for the Blades to their Championship season, losing their opening contest at home to Birmingham and drawing at Swansea in their second match, failing to score in either.
New manager Slavisa Jokanovic will be hoping that Manchester United’s exciting talent will be able to add some much-needed fire power to his side.
