Sergio Reguilon has named Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool stars among the best Spanish players to ever appear in the Premier League.

The Tottenham defender arrived from Real Madrid in the summer of 2020 and has since made 45 Premier League appearances in his opening season-and-a-half in north London.

Reguilon has also played six times for the Spanish national team, with his first cap coming during a UEFA Nations League match against Ukraine on September 2020.

The 25-year-old was asked to pick the best player Spanish goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and attacker to ever grace the Premier League.

And he was quick to overlook the likes of former Liverpool star Pepe Reina and ex-United stopper Victor Valdes in the goalkeeping position, instead choosing his current international teammate David de Gea.

‘I’ve played with him in the national team and he’s very secure for us. He gives us a lot of confidence,’ he told the Premier League.

The Spurs left-back went onto pick out Chelsea club captain as the best Spanish Premier League defender, describing him as ‘a top guy, a top professional, soldier.’

Reguilon had plenty of world-class players to pick from in the midfield position, with the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Xabi Alonso, Santi Cazorla and Juan Mata all among the contenders.

However, he opted for former Manchester City maestro David Silva after the now 35-year-old ended his Premier League career with an impressive 60 goals and 93 assists in 309 games across 10 years at the Etihad Stadium.

There has also been several standout Spanish strikers to grace the Premier League over the years, with the likes of Diego Costa and Luis Garcia among the best.

But it was former Liverpool and Chelsea forward Fernando Torres who got Reguilon’s vote for scoring 85 goals in 212 appearances in England’s top flight.
