Acne is one of the most common skin problems that affects approximately 90% of all people at some point in life, and treating it can be very difficult. There are many things that can cause this and some of them can be right under our noses.

That’s why our team decided to take a closer look at the subtle everyday things we do that may be contributing to this skin problem.

Dog Licks

You may have heard before that a dog’s mouth is cleaner than a person’s, but that’s not true. In fact, dogs’ mouths are full of bacteria, and while your pet’s display of affection may not seem harmful at first, if you already suffer from acne, the dog’s saliva can make it worse.

Kissing

When someone kisses you, the person’s nose may touch your face. The combination of oil and friction can cause a skin rash.

Also, if your better half has facial hair, the nape of the neck can scratch your skin, causing irritation and sometimes more pimples.

Your Phone

While it may be true that it’s hard to imagine not having a phone these days, they have been found to contain more bacteria than bathroom covers.

Every time we touch our skin with our phones, we are exposing them to all the bacteria and germs and this can lead to clogged pores and blackheads in the future.

Your Toothpaste

While it is common advice to apply toothpaste to clean pimples, it is not recommended. Most types of toothpaste contain certain ingredients, such as sodium lauryl sulfate, that can irritate the skin and make it more prone to breakouts.

Also, if you have pimples in your mouth or chin, pay attention to the type of toothpaste you are using.

Your Hair Conditioner

If you notice angry zits or bumps on your hairline, forehead, or back, your hair conditioner may be to blame. It is always a good idea to take a closer look at the ingredient list of your products, as many of them can clog your pores.

A helpful tip is to wash your face and body after rinsing your hair with the conditioner.

Lack Of Sleep

Sleep is the time our body uses to refuel and recharge. Lack of sleep has been shown to cause many problems, including stress.

Consequently, this leads to inflammation of the skin and increased oil production, which can lead to clogged pores and rashes.

Did you notice any more common practices that could be contributing to breakouts?
