For decades marijuana possession and use have been prohibited. Cannabis is a Schedule I drug hence the restriction. With more and more states legalizing it, there have been changing attitudes on the matter. Nowadays, people can get weed by searching marijuana dispensaries near me, and it even gets delivered. With this in mind, people wonder what legalization means entirely.

The wave of state legalization has been catching on, and more than 28 states allow the possession and use of marijuana in the United States. This is in addition to countries like Canada, Amsterdam, and others that allow unrestricted use of the same. The impact?

What Legalization Means for Users

In the ideal world of stoners, growing and using weed would not have any restrictions. Legalization offers a glimpse of this ideal world. The regulations in each state vary per their set laws. While some states allow carrying your bought product, others ban it altogether.

Legalization means accessing weed and other cannabis products from locally available vendors by the users. On top of that, their use is not considered illegal. They can carry specific amounts of marijuana without breaking any laws.

Worldwide legalization would mean something else altogether. Considering the tremendous effect of state legalization, worldwide legalization would be more impactful.  In reviewing the post-legalization, it is expected that some of them be positive and others negative.

Effects of Legalizing Cannabis Worldwide

In weighing the effects of a world where cannabis is permitted for general use, there would be significant enforcing factors. Think of the marijuana industry as a wholesome structural organization. The recreational and medicinal use of the drug would fuel the existing outcomes at global levels.

Admittedly, some of those outcomes are beneficial, and others are not. At the end of the day, what remains is that there would be tremendous shifts. The following are some of the significant pros;

Economic Boom

Job opportunities, an entirely new niche, and an entrepreneurial boom are three top things that would result from engaging in the weed business. Making the drug lawful means that the demand for the same goes high. This factor propels the business side of the matter, boosting sales and production levels to a high level.

Statistically, the states allowing for cannabis use have positively impacted the creation of job opportunities. Estimations show that by 2025, more than half a million people will be working in the marijuana business. At what levels? From the fundamental growth and production levels to HR managers.

The entrepreneurial spirit would also increase. With a legitimate worldwide status, the business side of matters would boom. More and more countries would produce and trade in the same. When Canada first announced its making weed licit, its stocks surged by 3.34%. The occurrence is as a result of businesses and sale of the cannabis.

This is because rather than cause a single state or country boom, cannabis would result in a worldwide boom. Multiple countries trading and dealing with cannabis means more businesses, capital input, and possibly higher profit margins.

More Usage

What does increased availability translate to? More usage. State numbers show that user numbers increase when the restrictions on use are lifted. This means that allowing people to use cannabis recreational and medicinally translates to better attitudes regarding the drug.

The same would occur at a worldwide level. Many people would turn to the drug for its dual purposes. Whether they seek to enjoy the psychoactive properties of marijuana or the medicinal ones, they will have it as an option.

In considering the use, one of the most asked questions is, what about the children and teenagers? Does availability mean increased use of weed among teenagers? Luckily, the answer is no. The opposite is true. As more and more dispensaries crop up, teenagers who use cannabis are decreasing in numbers. Ideally, the same would be consistent worldwide.

Legalized and Certified Products

One of the significant benefits is the fact that people no longer have to buy from street vendors. In the past, only street vendors could sell cannabis. While most vendors offer safe products, there is always the risk of laced cannabis being sold. To boost sales, some retailers are notorious for mixing compounds into their cannabis for a longer-lasting effect. This may mimic a more intense high, but it is dangerous for users.

The option of dispensaries means that the very act of smoking would be controlled. People could buy certified products whose composition is well known. Since dispensary weed is safer than the street, users are better off buying from legitimate establishments.

With the discussed pros, there are also cons to consider. Here is one of the significant downsides of introducing marijuana to the world;

Higher Supply than Demand

A world post-legalization would mean that there are numerous producers of cannabis all over. With each country striving to outdo their competitors, the result would be a massive supply of marijuana. This, in turn, proves detrimental because the demand is not as fast-paced as the supply. In the end, inter-country trade becomes impossible, and intra-country trade of the product becomes the only option.

Conclusion

In the past, marijuana use was not frowned upon worldwide. Various cultures used the drug, which means that they could grow it freely. With prohibition laws, the plant has become an illegal substance. Reversing these laws would open up the world to incredible opportunities. A world post-legalization is ideal for stoners and business men alike. They would enjoy the benefits of marijuana use and reap the same economically.
