Whether training for a marathon, hitting the gym, or trying to get some more steps in, plenty of people are now keen to have daily access to fitness stats such as heart rate, sleep, step tracker and many other metrics.

A fitness watch has become an essential for many to keep on top of their health and fitness goals, from Apple Watches to Garmin, but they are often quite expensive pieces of kit. Now, shoppers can get the Google Fitbit Charge 6 for £108.99 down from £139.99 on Amazon – its cheapest ever price.

The new and improved Fitbit has so many features that fitness fans might want, including access to heart rate via bluetooth, built in GPS, over 40 exercise modes and automatic exercise training. It’s also compatible with iOS 15 or higher and Android OS 9 and higher, so should suit shoppers regardless of which smartphone they’re pairing it with.

If shoppers are trying to reduce their screen time as part of their health kick, this watch can help with that, too, as it also gives access to Google Maps, Google Wallet, YouTube music controls, call, text and smartphone app notifications, timers and a stopwatch – everything one could want all in the same place. For those who want to improve their sleep hygiene, the Google Fitbit also has automatic sleep tracking, the chance to get access to a personalised sleep profile and a daily sleep score.

Like many devices, there is the option of a premium membership – but with this deal on Amazon, shoppers get a free six month membership to ultimately help their health and wellbeing journey. A common concern with watches is the short battery life, however this one has up to seven days of battery life meaning there is no need to worry about the watch dying mid workout or run.

If this watch isn’t calling out to shoppers, there is a wide range of other alternatives to choose from. The Apple Watch SE from Currys is priced at £219 and has the ability to track sports, steps, distance, calories, sleep and has a battery life of up to 18 hours. It also monitors heart rate, is water resistant and comes with GPS features.

The Garmin Forerunner 165 Series from Garmin is another option, priced at £289 and has up to 11 days battery life, gives users training metrics and recovery insights, has a touchscreen and buttons and also has a built-in GPS.

The Google Fitbit, however, has received a lot of praise in reviews as it has a 4.2 out of 5 star rating from a total of 1,727 reviews. One shopper wrote: “Great product. Does so much for a ‘little’ watch! So many features. Lightweight, good battery life and the screen is nice and clear. Doesn’t seem to be affected by water and the connectivity is really good to your phone. Would recommend.”

Another said: “Replacement for an earlier Fitbit… Super fast charging and after a bit of tinkering round to get the settings how I want them, working nicely.”

“Purchased to replace an earlier model,” said another shopper. “Excellent product and easy to operate.”

Some, however, had their reservations about the watch. One shopper wrote: “GPS tracking is very inaccurate and disconnects frequently. Would not recommend it if your aim is to monitor distance on runs/bike rides.” Another person said: “It’s a good watch, but it doesn’t help or assist me with ongoing goals and targets.”
