Kathy Bates has enthused that her whopping 100-pound weight loss has given her a new lease of life and that ‘every day feels like a miracle’.

The 76-year-old actress has made headlines since she showcased her dramatic transformation at the Emmys last month, having revealed that her image overhaul was a whopping six years in the making.

During an appearance on Tuesday’s episode of CBS Mornings, Kathy divulged how her trim figure has changed her for the better and that she is now able to walk.

Speaking to presenters Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil, and Nate Burleson, Kathy said: ‘I feel like a different woman, I really do.

‘I look in the mirror and go, “oh, my gosh”. I went into my costume fittings and I’m wearing a size 10, and it’s so different from being a 3X and being able to walk and move and pick things off the rack.

‘It’s a different experience.’

Kathy is front and center in the new CBS legal drama, Matlock, in which she plays lawyer Madeline who uses her unassuming demeanor to win cases.

Turning her attention to how the series has helped her transformation, she continued: ‘Health wise the show is hard, and it takes a lot of stamina and I feel up to it every day.

‘How these two things coincided in my life; being really healthy and then suddenly being given this gift (TV show), every day feels like a miracle.’

Kathy’s candidness about how her weight loss has impacted her life for the better comes after she revealed she used Ozempic to lose 20 pounds.

In an interview with People last week, she said she dropped a further 80 pounds by changing what she ate and her overall lifestyle.

‘There’s been a lot of talk that I just was able to do this because of Ozempic,’ she said.

‘But I have to impress upon people out there that this was hard work for me, especially during the pandemic. It’s very hard to say you’ve had enough.’

Kathy also revealed to the outlet that she was ‘in tears’ while getting dressed for the 2024 Emmys, because she ‘was able to go’ to Giorgio Armani and find a dress that fit her for the first time ‘in quite a while.’

Speaking to the publication, she recalled how she and a friend broke down during the fitting.

Kathy said they ‘were in tears because everything I came out in just looked exquisite.’

The Emmy-winning actress previously stated that she was at her heaviest weight in 2011 when she was starring in the NBC series, Harry’s Law, and admitted, ‘I had to sit down every moment that I could.’

‘It was hard for me to walk. I’m ashamed I let myself get so out of shape, but now I have a tremendous amount of energy.’

Kathy opened up about her weight loss and in 2019, talked to Extra about the inspiration behind putting her health first.

‘This is the best health I’ve been in in years and I’m so grateful – it’s a miracle,’ she told the outlet at the time after losing 60lbs.

The Titanic actress explained: ‘I was facing diabetes – it runs in my family – and I really didn’t want to live with that.’
