Father of Slain Israeli Embassy Staffer Breaks Silence, Talks Irony of Daughter's Death

The tragic shooting outside the Capitol Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., resulted in the deaths of two Embassy staffers, Sarah Milgrim and her boyfriend Yaron Lischinsky, on Wednesday night. The suspect, Elias Rodriguez, is said to be affiliated with the “Party for Socialism and Liberation” based in Chicago. Witnesses claimed that during his arrest, he chanted “free, free Palestine.”

Robert Milgrim strongly condemned Rodriguez for what he perceives as antisemitic motives behind the killing of his daughter and her fiancé, as reported by our sister site, Townhall:

Robert Milgrim, aged 73, criticized suspect Elias Rodriguez’s alleged motives, describing them as openly antisemitic and ineffective in aiding Gaza. His daughter, Sarah Milgrim, 26, was known for her commitment to helping Palestinians.

“Last night, she was attending an affair to figure out how to get more aid into Gaza,” Milgrim told The Post. “The night she was killed, she was trying to help the situation – that’s the irony.”

Police are probing whether Rodriguez blasted out an anti-Israel manifesto online leading up to the murder of Sarah and her boyfriend, Yaron Lischinsky, 28.

Milgrim said his daughter was passionate about her work with the embassy and had spent several summers in Israel working with “peacebuilding groups” to help unite Palestinians and Israelis.

Her father said the family was still reeling from the tragedy, especially after learning Lischinsky had planned to propose to his daughter next week, the New York Post noted.

“We didn’t even know about it. She was leaving on Sunday to Israel to meet his family. They were going together,” Milgrim said. “She was happier now than she ever was in her life. She was truly in love with Yaron and vice versa.”

On LinkedIn, Milgrim wrote, “My passion lies at the intersection of peacebuilding, religious engagement, and environmental work.”

The assassination of the young couple follows a series of anti-Semitic attacks around the world following the horrific Hamas terrorist attack on Israelis on October 7, 2023.

Commentators have blasted those on the left and members of legacy media for allowing “antisemitism” to flourish following the murder, RedState reported.

While it is true that the attack on the Jewish couple is being condemned by many on both sides of the political aisle, more than a handful have pointed out that this is a problem of the left’s refusal to admit the hatred towards Jews that we have seen on public universities and the media’s not calling it out over the last few years.
