A man was left amazed after trying a pot of blemish cream that was sent to him in the post by his grandma.

Nothing else had worked for Nic’s spots and blemishes, but after four days, to his ‘complete surprise’ his acne cleared up. He was so impressed that he ‘tracked down’ the scientist who formulated the product – and now he’s on a mission to spread the word about the ‘incredible’ skincare range.

Skincare remains a top concern for many people, with most individuals making their skin health a key part of their beauty routine, yet discovering suitable products that won’t trigger irritation can prove challenging and frequently results in disappointment. But now, an unlikely brand has now surfaced from Yorkshire’s countryside – with outstanding results reported. 47 Skin, recognised as one of Britain’s fastest-expanding private companies by The Sunday Times 100 List for two years running, provides a selection of items containing their distinctive component – Silver Chitoderm.

Silver Chitoderm, unique to 47 Skin, creates an unseen protective layer when mixed with silver, eliminating 99.9% of bacteria responsible for spots, the company claims.

During 2024, the company secured 52nd position on The Sunday Times 100 List rankings then in 2025 it achieved 55th place – representing a notable achievement as founder Nic’s father had previously featured on the identical list in 2003.

Nic, who established the brand, reveals he had struggled with skin problems for more than ten years until an unexpected package from his grandmother transformed his situation, according to the Mirror.

He said: “I’d tried what felt like every single product and treatment under the sun and spent thousands of pounds.

“Nothing worked, I even resorted to medication which led to a short period of depression, but in January 2017, Grandma sent me a pot of cream through the post with a handwritten note urging me to try it.

“I was sceptical, but to my complete surprise it cleared my spots and blemishes in just four days.”

He added: “I was so amazed with the results that I tracked down and partnered with the scientist behind the formulation.

“Now our mission is to spread the word through our range of incredible products and skin-positive community.

“At 47 Skin, we understand exactly how spots, blemishes and skin concerns can make you feel from the inside out.”

Customers can choose from a variety of products, including the Anti-Blemish and Scar Repair Everyday Cleanser priced at £29, which helps promote clearer skin whilst leaving the complexion feeling silky smooth and moisturised.

Another choice is the Anti-Blemish and Scar Repair Silver Mask costing £24, created to calm, illuminate and diminish redness and irritation.

There’s also a bestselling item, the Anti-Blemish and Scar Repair Serum at £29, which naturally calms and shields skin whilst leaving it feeling smooth and nourished, plus their Anti-Blemish and Scar Repair Daily Moisturiser for £34 – a light, non-greasy everyday moisturiser.

Nevertheless, if this brand isn’t suitable for everyone, alternatives like The Ordinary Essentials Bundle for £28.20 from Boots might be worth considering.

This collection features a natural moisturising factors and hyaluronic acid daily moisturiser, a hyaluronic acid 2% and B5 hydrating serum, a squalane cleanser appropriate for all skin types, and a niacinamide 10% + zinc 1% oil control serum.

Another alternative could be the Medik8 Blemish SOS 15ml from LookFantastic for £25, a fast-acting gel that dries invisibly and leaves no residue.

47 Skin has received glowing reviews from shoppers, with one customer, Anna, stating in June 2025: “I love 47 skin and would recommend anyone with blemish prone skin to use it.

“I wish when my breakouts were bad as a teenager that 47 skin existed honestly.”

Another customer named Gioia said: “It’s the clearest my skin has looked in over 10 years.”

However, there were mixed reviews on Trustpilot, with one person saying: “It’s made no difference at all to my skin after a month of using it.”

Zoe shared her positive experience: “I really tried everything possible, I tried a few different brands which didn’t make much difference, then my friend recommended 47Skin and I absolutely love it.

“The quality is so good and I notice such a difference in my skin. I used to be so self conscious about going make-up free in summer/at the beach and now I feel so much more confident – definitely recommend.”
