OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, announced on Wednesday that former U.S. Treasury Secretary Larry Summers is stepping down from its board of directors.

Summers’ decision to leave comes in the wake of newly disclosed emails that reveal his cordial association with Jeffrey Epstein, even after Epstein was convicted in 2008 for soliciting prostitution from a minor.

“Larry has opted to resign from the OpenAI Board of Directors, and we respect his choice,” stated the board.

They further acknowledged, “We value his numerous contributions and the unique perspectives he brought to the board.”

This development follows Summers’ recent announcement about reducing his public engagements.
