A pair of Premier League players have revealed all about the experience of being a visiting player at Anfield, with Liverpool’s roaring home support making a huge difference.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have always had dominant home form, as they are spurred on by their supporters on Merseyside, in one of football’s most iconic grounds.

But in a new podcast, West Ham’s Michail Antonio and Fulham’s Tom Cairney have spoken about the experience of playing Liverpool at Anfield, in front of those vocal supporters.

He added: ‘When the fans are going, it’s like the fans are literally going [sucking noise] all joined together to suck the ball into the net.’

Fulham captain Tom Cairney remembered how fans helped Liverpool beat them 4-3

West Ham’s Michail Antonio and Fulham’s Tom Cairney spoke about their Anfield experiences

Cairney explained about the time Fulham were 3-2 up at Anfield back in December, only to be defeated by late goals from Wataru Endo and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

He said: ‘You could just tell. The noise was just like… we lost 4-3.’

He added: ‘If I ever win a toss again, I’m going to make them not kick to the Kop second half.’

‘Mate, 100%’, Antonio responded.

Liverpool beat Sparta Prague 6-1 in the Europa League Round of 16 on Thursday night, to progress 11-2 on aggregate, before travelling to Manchester United for the FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday.

The Reds sit second in the Premier League table behind leaders Arsenal on goal difference, and one point ahead of third-placed Manchester City, with ten games remaining for each side.

With Klopp leaving this summer, there are only a handful of home games remaining for him to savour the Anfield atmosphere before his departure.
